Accessories Category

The right accessory turns a good welder into a great weld. Plastic Welding Tools NZ supplies the consumables, replacement parts and on-tool accessories that keep your plastic welder, hot-air blower or extruder welder running at its best.

Welding shoes (speed nozzles) — round-rod, fillet, V-seam, butt-weld, overlap-weld and film-weld profiles. Available in 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm and 12 mm sizes to match your rod and joint geometry.
Pressure rollers — silicone (standard), PTFE non-stick, and seam-probe rollers in 40 mm and 80 mm widths. The right roller compresses the molten weld evenly without sticking.
Penny rollers — for finishing roofing membranes and PVC seam edges.
Feed rollers — for extruder welder rod-feed assemblies.
Heating elements — type 2A, 32A, 33, 38B5 and others for Leister, Techspan, Rion and Triac welders and blowers. 110 V and 230 V variants available.
Carbon brushes — replacement brushes for Leister Forte, BAK and equivalent extruder welders.
Eyelet and grommet press machines — semi-automatic eyelet press for tarpaulin, banner and cover manufacturing.
Swan-neck and short nozzles — for tight-access welding around corners and complex profiles.
Spatula cutting guides — for trimming PVC and PE membranes to a clean edge before welding.

Everything in the accessories range is matched to the welders and blowers in our catalogue, so the fit, voltage and duty rating are guaranteed. If you can’t find the part you need listed, get in touch — we keep a wider range of additional consumables off-catalogue.

The right consumable extends the life of your welder and improves the quality of every weld. Pressure rollers, welding shoes, heating elements and brushes are the parts that wear with use — keeping the right spares on hand avoids production downtime.

Welding shoes & nozzles

Speed nozzles in round, triangular, V-seam, butt, overlap and film-weld profiles. Sizes from 3mm through 12mm to match your rod and joint geometry. Swan-neck and short-nozzle variants for tight-access work.

Pressure rollers

Silicone (general purpose), PTFE (non-stick), seam-probe rollers in 40mm and 80mm widths. Penny rollers for roofing membrane finishing.

Heating elements

Type 2A, 32A, 33, 38B5 and others for Leister, Techspan, Rion and Triac welders and blowers. 110V and 230V variants stocked.

Carbon brushes

Replacement brushes for Leister Forte, BAK and equivalent extruder welders. Inexpensive consumable — keep a set on hand.

Feed rollers

For extruder welder rod-feed assemblies — the part that pulls welding rod into the heated barrel.

Eyelet & grommet presses

Semi-automatic eyelet presses for tarpaulin, banner, awning and cover manufacturing.

Spatula cutting guides

For trimming PVC and PE membranes to a clean edge before welding. Repeatable cut geometry improves weld consistency.

Specialist nozzles

Swan-neck and short-form nozzles for tight-access welding around corners and complex profiles where the standard nozzle won't reach.

Brass brushes

For cleaning the joint before welding and removing oxidation from the welding rod. A simple consumable that meaningfully improves weld quality.

What wears, and how often

PartTypical service lifeSymptoms when worn
Heating element12-24 months (light use) / 6-12 months (heavy)Lower air temperature, longer warm-up, intermittent operation
Carbon brushes6-18 months depending on hoursArcing, intermittent operation, reduced motor speed
Pressure roller (silicone)3-12 months under heavy useMarks on welded seams, plastic buildup, uneven compression
Welding shoe (nozzle)Years — replaced when damaged, not as a wear itemVisible damage, deformed rod feed, marks on the weld
Brass brushFrequent — bristles wear downCannot reach into the joint, ineffective cleaning

Can't find the part?

We hold a wider range of additional consumables off-catalogue than what's listed online — particularly older-model elements, specialist nozzles, and OEM-specific spares for less common welder models. Get in touch with the welder model number and a description of the part.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which welding shoe (speed nozzle) I need?

Match the nozzle to two things: the rod profile (round, triangular, rectangular) and the rod diameter (3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 12mm). A round-rod nozzle for 4mm rod is the most common general-purpose choice. Specialist profiles — fillet, V-seam, butt-weld, overlap-weld, film-weld — each have a purpose. If unsure, get in touch with the welder model and the rod you're using.

Silicone or PTFE pressure roller — which is better?

Silicone is the standard general-purpose pressure roller — fine for most plastics. PTFE rollers don't stick to molten plastic and are preferred for sticky materials like PVC and some PE blends, particularly on long seams where buildup on a silicone roller would mark the weld. For roofing membrane finishing, a penny roller (small, hard) gives precise edge pressure.

Which heating element does my welder take?

It depends on the model. Common types: Type 33 (1550W or 1650W, for Rion-type welders), Type 38 (heavier-duty Triac models), Type 2A (1100W three-pin), Type 32A (4400W 400V for Leister 3300-class extruders). The element model is usually printed on the existing element you're replacing — pull it out and match. If unsure, contact us with the welder model.

How often should carbon brushes be replaced?

Carbon brushes wear visibly. A new brush is around 15-20mm long; replace when worn down to about 5-6mm. Symptoms of worn brushes include arcing, intermittent operation, and reduced motor speed. Brushes are inexpensive and easy to swap — don't wait until the motor stops.

Do you stock parts that aren't in the online catalogue?

Often, yes. We keep a wider range of consumables off-catalogue than what's listed online — particularly older-model elements, specialist nozzles, and OEM-specific spares for less common welder models. If you can't find the part you need, get in touch with the welder model number and a description of the part.

What's an eyelet press for?

A semi-automatic eyelet (grommet) press fits brass or aluminium eyelets through fabric — used in tarpaulin, banner, awning and cover manufacturing. The press handles 8mm, 10mm and 12mm eyelets and produces consistent, properly-clamped eyelets at high speed compared to a hand press. See our eyelet press overview.
