Each Plastic Welding Tools NZ kit includes a hot-air welder, a selection of welding rods matched to the most common plastic types, the welding shoes (speed nozzles) needed for the application, and the supporting accessories — pressure rollers, brass brushes, and a carry case. The result is a single, calibrated system rather than a hodge-podge of mismatched parts.

How to choose the right plastic welding kit
The right kit comes down to three things: what plastic you're welding, the application, and how often you'll use it. Walk through these in order and the answer is usually obvious.

Frequently asked questions
Which plastic welding kit is best for repairing a car bumper?
For automotive bumper repair, choose an automotive kit. Most modern bumpers are PEMD (polyethylene medium density), so the kit should include a hot-air welder like the Techspan Rion, PEMD rod in 3mm and 4mm, the speed nozzle for round rod, a pressure roller, and a brass brush. Do I need a different kit for roofing membranes versus PVC tarps?
Yes. Roofing membranes (TPO, PVC, EPDM) typically need higher-output hot-air welders and a wider seam roller for full-coverage welds, plus the right welding rod for the membrane type. PVC tarps and awnings can be welded with general-purpose hot-air kits using PVC rod and a narrower roller. The roofing kit and the tarps & covers kit are configured for these jobs respectively. Can I weld more than one plastic type with the same kit?
Yes — the welder and most accessories work across plastic types. What changes is the welding rod (which must match the plastic being welded) and sometimes the speed nozzle. How long does a plastic welding kit last with regular use?
The welder itself, with normal cleaning and occasional element replacement, will last many years of daily commercial use. The consumables — welding rods, brushes, speed nozzles, pressure rollers — wear with use and are replaced as needed. Replacement heating elements, carbon brushes and accessories are supported in New Zealand.
Are these kits suitable for hobbyists, or only trade?
Both. The smaller fabrication and automotive kits built around the Techspan Rion are well-suited to hobbyists, DIY repairs and occasional use. Is plastic welding as strong as the original plastic?
