The welder
The core machine. Hand-held hot-air welders (Techspan Rion, Triac, Leister), extruder welders for thick sections, automatic overlap and wedge welders for production seams.
Welding rods
The consumable filler material. Must match the plastic being welded. Stocked in PP, PE-HD, PE-MD, PVC, ABS and PP/EPDM. Round 3mm/4mm/5mm; triangular for fillet; flat for butt welds.
Speed nozzles & welding shoes
Direct hot air onto the rod and substrate together. Different profiles for round rod, triangular rod, V-seam, butt-weld, overlap and film-weld geometries. Sized to match rod diameter.
Pressure rollers
Compress the molten weld bead evenly without sticking. Silicone for general purpose, PTFE non-stick for sticky materials, penny rollers for membrane finishing, seam-probe rollers for membrane QA.
Weld testing equipment
Tensiometers for peel testing, spark testers for tank linings, air-pressure testers for wedge-welded membrane seams, coupon cutters for repeatable sample geometry. Required for QA-grade fabrication.
Hot-air blowers
Process heating, shrink wrapping, drying components, soft-heating plastic sheet for forming, pre-heating substrates before welding. Output range 2 kW to 17 kW.
Heating elements (replacement)
The main wear part on hot-air welders. Type 33, 38, 2A, 32A and others. 110V and 230V variants. Replaced every 6-24 months depending on use.
Carbon brushes
Motor brush wear part. Cheap consumable; replace when worn to about 5-6mm or symptoms appear (arcing, intermittent operation, reduced speed).
Eyelet & grommet presses
Semi-automatic eyelet presses for tarp, banner, awning and cover manufacturing. 8mm, 10mm, 12mm brass or aluminium eyelets.
Spark testers
High-voltage probe for non-destructive testing of weld integrity on tank linings, chemical fabrications and leak-critical seams.
Spatula cutting guides
For trimming PVC and PE membrane edges to a clean line before welding, and for trimming flush after flooring seam welds cool.
Brass brushes & prep tools
Clean the joint before welding and remove oxidation from rod. Small detail, meaningful difference to weld quality. Always part of a complete kit.

What separates good equipment from cheap equipment
- Temperature control. Digital temperature control with stable output is the difference between an acceptable weld and one that scorches the plastic. Cheap heat guns lack this entirely.
- Duty cycle. Trade-grade welders are rated for continuous duty. Hardware-store tools are typically intermittent and overheat under daily use.
- Spare parts availability. Heating elements, carbon brushes and nozzles wear out. A welder you can’t get spares for becomes scrap. We stock spares for Techspan, Leister, Rion and Triac.
- Matched accessory ecosystem. Round-rod nozzles are sized to rod diameter. Pressure rollers come in widths matched to seam types. Cheap generic accessories don’t fit properly.

FAQs about plastic welding equipment
What’s the minimum equipment to start plastic welding?
A hot-air welder with temperature control, welding rod matched to the plastic, a speed nozzle that fits the rod diameter, a pressure roller, and a brass brush. A bundled kit includes all of this in one purchase.
Can I weld plastic without a dedicated welder?
You can melt plastic with a heat gun or soldering iron, but you can’t produce a structural weld without temperature control and the right nozzle/rod combination. Production-grade plastic welding equipment exists because the alternatives produce inconsistent, weak welds.
Do I need testing equipment?

Can I use one set of equipment across multiple plastics?
The welder, nozzle and roller work across plastics. The welding rod must match the plastic being welded. A fabrication-style kit includes rods in multiple plastics so the same equipment handles mixed jobs.
